Information

  • Competitive Wages starting at 50CPM – Per Diem
  • All Solo Driving Positions
  • Dry-Van – General Freight – 99% No Touch – 70-80% Drop and Hook
  • Equipment: Kenworth T680s, Freightliner Cascadias, and Internationals.
  • Layover/Breakdown Pay: $100 per day after 24 hours
  • Detention Pay: $15/hour after 2-3 hours depending on the load.
  • No forced dispatch to NYC.
  • Pet Policy: 1 dog allowed with a $400 non-refundable pet fee
  • Rider Policy: 1 rider – must be at least 9 years of age – $40 per month for    insurance purposes
  • Benefits Start Day 1 of Hire

Requirements

  • Must have 6 months of recent and verifiable CDL-A tractor-trailer experience pulling 53′ trailers within the last 12 months
  • Must be able to pass a road test
  • Application must show all DOT sensitive driving employment history including any previous prospective employers that a drug screen was taken with within the last 10 years.
  • Must have a valid CDL-A and Medical Card.

SUMMARY
  • All Dry-van – 99% No touch freight – Avg. 2,700 – 3,300 miles/week
  • Drivers may be dispatched anywhere in the lower 48 states
  • 2 weeks out, 2-3 days home
  • No forced dispatch to NYC
  • 24-hour dispatch

       PAY

  • Competitive Wages starting at 50CPM – Per Diem – Weekly pay via direct deposit or paper check
  • Picking up a load Friday in Michigan for a Monday delivery on the East Coast? Get paid an extra $100! (PA, MD, NJ, EAST NY, WV, and DE only)
  • Paid Clean Inspections: Level 1 = $200, Level 2 = $100, Level 3 = $50
  • Additional Stops: 1st = $30, 2nd – 4th = $40, 5th+ = $50
  • Layover & Breakdown: $100/day
  • Detention: $15/hour

Owner Operators

  REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must have 6 months of recent and verifiable CDL-A tractor-trailer experience pulling 53′ trailers within the last 12 months

  • Must be able to pass a road test
  • Must have a valid medical card
  • Must have a valid CDL-A

     
 CURRENT OFFERINGS

  • Dry van – 99% no touch freight
  • 70-80% drop & hook
  • No forced dispatch: pick and choose your loads and when you go home
  • No Hazmat, Canda, or Mexico
  • Rewarding Driver Referal Program: $300 a month for up to 6 months (Note: Must have referral’s full name on application for the referrer to be eligible)
  • Paid weekly paper check or direct deposit
  • Rider policy available

      

PAY

  • Paid 80% gross of the agreed upon amount of the load
  • Includes trailer rental
  • Includes cargo insurance 
  • pay period is Tuesday – Monday and pay day is each Friday.
  • Sign on (OOP ONLY and Excludes Lease Purchase): $1,000 for every 10,000 miles driven (paid in full at 60,000 and/or $6,000 paid out).
  • Limited time sign-on bonus (OOP ONLY – EXCLUDES LEASE PURCHASE AND REHIRES ): $1,000 for every 10,000 miles driven. (MAX PAYOUT: $6k at 60,000 miles)

      

 WHAT SWEET CAN PROVIDE: 

  • Company provided plate (renewals on September 30th of each year)
  • Fuel Card – Sweet can provide you with a fuel card if you do not have your own. There is a $2.55 transaction fee with every swipe.
  • Insurance
  • HWY-2290
  • Elite Pass (optional): $50/week until escrow paid in full ($1,000)
  • Fuel reimbursement for driving your truck to our orientation located in Grand Rapids, MI: this is at the discretion of the Recruiting Department and will be discussed when scheduling an orientation date after your application has been approved. 
  • Reimbursement will be discussed and determined prior to arrival

      

EXPENSES

  • General:
    – HWY-2290 with visible watermark: If you do not have one, Sweet Express can provide one at a fee of $550. If Sweet provides the HWY-2290 after June 1st,
    the fee will be prorated. $2.55 charge per transaction if using company provided fuel card.
  • Weekly:
    – Fuel is deducted weekly
    – Elite Pass: (If applicable) $50.00 weekly deduction until escrow is met ($500)
    – Samsara (ELD): $200.00 weekly deduction until escrow is met ($1,200) – NOTE: OOP financially responsible for installation fee of $97.50 – will be deducted)
    – Physical/Non-Trucking Liability deducted weekly (if applicable)
  • Monthly:
    – $155.00 Occupational/Accidental Insurance
    – $55.00 Samsara (ELD service)
    – $22.00 Elite Pass rental fee
    – If the owner operator’s truck ever falls under Sweet Express’ Physical Damage Insurance, that amount will be deducted monthly.
  • Quarterly:
    – IFTA – Varies on how much you fuel per state
    – $50.00 IFTA prep fee

WHAT WE NEED TO GET YOU STARTED: 

  • Full application
  • Proof of Ownership (Title and/or lease agreement if applicable – a copy of both the front and back required). If you have leased the truck from another party, we will need both the lease agreement and title.
  • SS-4 Form: only required if your business (LLC or DBA) is listed on the title/lease agreement as the owner
  • Must provide a DOT Inspection report that has been completed within 30 days of the owner operator coming in for orientation. Most OOP obtain a new DOT inspection on the way up to orientation and provide a physical copy. 
  • Registration (IRP): Sweet has an IRP plan that you can choose to run under at no expense up until our next renewal date (September 30th). If you choose to use your own, we will need a copy of your registration. 
  • Physical/Non-Trucking Liability Insurance: Sweet can provide or you can use your own. If you use our insurance, the OOP retains financial responsibility for coverage and the expense is deducted weekly.
  • HWY-2290 (REQUIRED): If you do not have one, Sweet Express can provide one at a fee of $550. If Sweet provides the HWY-2290 after June 1st, the fee will be prorated. HWY-2290’s must include a visible watermark.
